Marco Island Things to Do
If you have not made your way down to the cozy getaway that is Marco Island, I highly recommend you take the chance to do so. It is a great place to get outdoors, spend time with family and relax. Since I have family living on the island, I'm often there and I am so excited to share some of my favorite places with you. Here are some ideas of things to do when you visit:
1. Jet Ski Tours
3. Go to the Beach
4. Mackle Park
5. Marco Movies
6. Shore Goods
What to Know Before You Go
Marco Island is clearly an up and coming hot spot for travelers, but some have gotten the wrong idea about what Marco Island is really like. For those party people out there - this is not the place. Marco is all about taking it slow and indulging in simple pleasures like nature and food. If you want to experience the slow and relaxing island life surrounded by ritzy restaurants and waterway tours, then come on down!
How to Access the Beaches
Like most islands, Marco Island has beautiful beach coastlines! However, some people have a hard time finding their way to the beach since the hotels and restaurants line the beachfront and parking can be limited. In this video I provide a full introduction on the different beach options and how to get to them. We’ve got:
1. TigerTail Beach -There are 226 regular parking spaces and 6 handicap parking spaces with a $8.00 Parking Fee payable to the Master Meter, or Beach Parking Permit required. There are restrooms, a concession stand and beach equipment rentals.
2. Resident Beach -This private beach has specific requirements for access, but quite a few perks like Friday fish fry at the eatery and sugar soft sand.
3. Mid Beach - Centrally located access between the Royal Seafarer Condominium (300 South Collier Blvd.) and the Madeira Resort (310 South Collier Blvd.), this beach is for pedestrian use only. There are bike racks, but no parking or facilities are available.
4. South Beach - There are multiple access points. The parking lots are located east of Collier Boulevard. One parking lot is maintained by Collier County and has the same requirements as Tigertail Beach. The other parking lot is part of the Marco Island Civic Association and has the same requirements as Residents’ Beach. Restrooms are located at both parking lots.
Where to Golf
When I first posted about things to do in Marco Island, I got a comment asking about golf. Now, I am definitely not a golfer, but my dad is, so I asked him if he would want to make a video and he was so excited. My husband and him filmed and finished this video and I hope you enjoy this gentlemen's takeover of the channel to the following course:
3. Rookery Bay
Where to eat in Marco
If you are anything like me, you know the importance of a good meal. It can make or break your day. That is why I wanted to recommend some of my favorite eatery's in Marco Island. These aren't necessarily the fanciest joints, but they have some good grub!
